I come from a musical theater background where all of my voice teachers have taught me that there are 3 registers/voices that a singer uses: chest, middle and head. As a performer I have always understood what my limitations were in each register. Somehow, in my musical theater career it had worked to know how to sing this way; that was until I decided to be a more versatile singer. I realized that I had a problem singing pop music and other styles out of my comfort zone.
Then I met David through a friend and instantly his approach intrigued me. During our first few lessons he had manage to increase my range from low to high without any breaks in between. It was simple to him. He said that, and I quote: "we have one voice and that if that voice is centered then we have no limitations in what we are able to sing, whether its pop, musical theater or opera," end quote. What makes David Lee Brewer different and special from all of my previous teachers is that he aids you in finding your own vocal identity and with his vocal technique, he gives you the confidence to deliver your best performance. The technique allows you to be independent and to think for yourself. The best quality that David has as a teacher is that he really cares for his student.
